I'm Back in the Game

Alright, I know I haven't posted in forever, so I figured the best way to get back in the game was to play a round of Tag, and thanks to my mom, I'm it.

I am READY TO MOVE.

I think I'm going to puke if I eat anymore oatmeal cookie dough

I know I'm going to puke if I eat anymore oatmeal cookie dough

I want more than anything to visit Africa

I hate it when people are mean, because they can be.

I fear I'm not going to be able to finish this post

I feel anxious and excited to get outta here

I hear Jack Johnson playing in the Living Room, and birds outside the office window

I smell Beth's feet after she wears her Sperrys

I crave A warm Krispy Kream Doughnut

I search for missing papers. ALL THE TIME

I regret pulling Bethany off the top bunk ( she bit part of her lip off)

I love cooking with my mom

I ache for Levi when I walk past him playing alone and he says " come on Sarah " as he waves his little hand toward himself.

I care about the sweet, helpless children in Africa

I am not patient (AT ALL ! I MEAN IT! according to Bethany)

I believe that the boogieman lives on the top bunk

I sing all day long, and sometimes very loudly . Most of the time I don't realize how loud I'm singing until Bethany tells me she can hear me over the vacuum cleaner.

I cry when my mom is mad, or when something sad happens on The Waltons or Little House on the Prairie

I fight with myself A LOT

I write the beginning of a post but rarely finish it.

I win Skipbo almost every time I play against my mom

I lose Skipbo when I play against anyone else

I never want Daddy to take the remote from me, but he does anyway

I listen to music whenever I'm on the computer

I can usually be found with my mom

I'm scared of the sound of thunder by my window. ( I'm not scared OF thunder )

I need nothing

I'm happy about livin' 10 minuets from the beach!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOO
HOOOOOOOOOOO

I hope that while we're in Florida we get our next sibling

I tag Aspen, and a girl who also needs to get back in the game, Taylor

Homecoming by Cynthia Voigt

Photobucket This book is about four children, Dicey, James, Sammy and Maybeth, Whose mother abandoned them in a random mall parking lot. When they figured out that their mother wasn't coming back, the oldest Dicey decided that they would walk to their Aunt Cilla's House. So with $7.00 and a paper bag with clothing in it, they set of on an adventure that would change their lives forever. Unfortunately and fortunately for these children their story doesn't end at finding their aunt's house and living ever after. They will face a few more trials before they find their new home and live HAPPILY ever after.

There are three great lessons in this book.

1.stick together. NO MATTER WHAT!

2. use what you have, and don't worry about saving it for later if you need it now.

3.you should count on your family, and your family should be able to count on you.

When I Say I am a Christian

When I say..." I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'
I'm whispering " I was lost
but now I am forgiven

When I say..." I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confess that I stumble
And need Christ to be my guide.

When I say..." I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm week
And need his strength to carry on.

When I say..." I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say..." I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I'm worth it.

When I say..." I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say..." I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good Grace, Somehow!

Many Blessings

Blow up Bed Chaos :0)

Today Sam, Levi, and I had a BRILLIANT, or not so brilliant plan to make a slide out of our air mattress. So we lean it up against my bed and loaded the bottom end with pillows, blankets, stuffed animals... From there we were rolling fools. We had the iDOG going and were rolling, tumbling, jumping, anything you can think of doing on an air mattress.
Some of you who know me know that I don't do this kind of stuff very often, but I had a BLAST.

TORNADO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Febuary 17, 2008
Torando hits Prattville Alabama

These Pictures where taken of my neighborhood.
We are fine. As a matter of fact our family didn't even know there was a tornado 'til after it hit. We found out a little bit after it happened the that there was. But these pics are only a couple streets away.

Free Rice

Our family just found this great website that is helping to stop world hunger. All you do is answer vocabulary questions. For each question you get right, advertisers on the site donate 20 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program. So far there have been 19,013,326,390 grains donated. I got 2,000 grains of rice donated in about 10 min.

I really recommend at least just taking a look at the free rice website.

If you end up playing the game let me know how you do.

I hope to hear from you,

Sarah

The Poem for Older Sisters

I ran across this wonderful poem on another blog, and knew I needed to post it. It reminded me how careful I have to be.

A Little Sister Follows Me

author unknown

A careful girl I want to be;A little sister follows me.

I do not dare to go astray For fear she’ll go the selfsame way.

I cannot once escape her eyes;Whate’er she sees me do, she tries;

Like me she says she’s going to be—That little sister following me.

She thinks that I am good and fine;Believes in every word of mine.

The bad in me she must not see—That little sister following me.

I must remember as I go,Through summer’s sun and winter’s snow,

I’m building for the years to be That little sister following me.

The Weirdness of Bethany

Mom tagged Beth to name 5 weird things about herself, but she is taking way too long so I decided to do it for her, so here we go.

1. Beth likes walking around in Samuel's boxer shorts and her basketball jersey. When Sam asks for his "underwear" back, she claims they are hers.

2. She thinks EVERYTHING has feelings, including toilet paper.

3. She can't sleep without earplugs, a fan, a nightlight and Benadryl.

4. She takes mom to her sleepovers along with her earplugs, fan, nightlight and Benadryl.

5. She continues to love me even though I am a bossy, know it all, sarcastic big sister.

On Bethany's behalf, I tag ME.

The Watsons Go to Birmingham-1963

The Watsons Go to Birmingham-1963 by Chistopher Paul Curtis is laugh out loud funny. It's about a crazy family named the Watsons as they deal with life and each other. There's Momma, Dad and Joetta who's the baby of the family. Then there's Kenny who's the middle child and totally 10. Then, last but not least, there's Byron who's the oldest, and through his antics I learned that thinking to highly of yourself can get you in some trouble. One day the Watsons decide to go see Grandma in Birmingham. That's where they learn the cruelty of racism, which can be so cruel it's unreal. It's also where Kenny learns how scary death can be, whether it's your own or somebody you love.

Abraham's Well

I just finished reading a book by Sharon Ewell Foster called Abraham's Well. It's about a young black Cherokee girl that grows up in slavery after being forced off her family's land. This book tells the story of slavery as if through the eyes of someone who experienced it. It opened my eyes to parts of slavery I never really knew about, like how how brutally the white men took the slaves, and had so little heart to sell children away from their family. The slaves weren't even allowed to get legally married. I highly recommend this emotional yet touching book.
